What is a Consulting Agreement?
A consulting agreement is a contract between a consultant (or consulting firm) and a client that governs an advisory or expert engagement. Unlike a general service agreement, consulting agreements typically emphasize intellectual contribution, strategic advice, and specialized expertise rather than hands-on deliverable production.
Consulting arrangements span everything from one-day strategy sessions to multi-year advisory retainers. The agreement must reflect the actual structure — hourly billing vs. fixed project fees vs. monthly retainers — and address the unique risks of advisory work, including reliance on recommendations, confidential business information, and the consultant's professional reputation.
Contract.DIY generates consulting agreements that match your specific engagement model. Whether you're a solo management consultant, a boutique advisory firm, or a subject-matter expert providing specialized guidance, describe the relationship and receive a complete, jurisdiction-aware contract.
